Path through the vineyards of Strážnice
(18 km)
Rideability: all the year round; September-October
From
Strážnice, we set out in direction of
Radějov. We follow the yellow tourist marking. We go over a small bridge
and come to a road-fork (sideway cross). Here you can do a small tour: on
the field-path to the left to the Žerotín hill (yellow marking) with
a chapel, then down the hill among the vineyards back to the asphalt road (always
yellow marking).
The asphalt road goes underneath the eastern slopes of the Žerotín hill
to the valley of the Šumárnický brook (steep downhill to the brook!).
At a road-sign, we take the green marking and continue to the village of
Sudoměřice. At the entrance to the
village, we turn to the left and after about 300 m we reach the wine-cellar
area (Starý potok). From this area, we can continue to a nice pond
called Vanďurák.
From Sudoměřice, we set for Strážnice. On the way, we meet the wine-growing
village of Petrov at whose beginning the
famous Historical reserve of folk architecture Plže
welcomes
us.
In Plže, we joint the route of the Wine Path of Strážnice that lead
us on the bike path back to Strážnice, outside the busy roads.
The villages of Petrov, Sudoměřice, and
Hroznová Lhota and of course the town of Strážnice are traditional wine-growing
locations.
On this path, you can meet the best of viticulture in the region of
Strážnice:
Žerotín Hill - the slopes of this hill are covered by a lot o
vineyards, but also orchards with unique service-trees.
Petrovské Plže – a famous area of wine cellars from the 16th and 17th
century, which is the historical reserve of folk architecture. The cellar
fronts are typical with their white colour and blue socle.
